Skin Bleaching

Wanting a more even skin tone free of dark spots, freckles and other discolorations? One option you have is skin bleaching. Bleaching is used to treat blotchy, discoloured skin caused by anything from sun damage to acne scarring, bug bites, skin trauma, age spots, freckles and more.

When it comes to bleaching your skin it can be a little complicating with so many options. It is also important that you understand how to choose the right products and know how to use them to ensure you get the best results possible.

It is also important that you understand the terminology when it comes to bleaching. Currently the FDA only recognizes hydroquinone as a bleaching agent. This means that any other ingredients will be referred to as brighteners, whiteners or lighteners.

When applying a bleaching product you only need to apply it to the dark area you wish to treat. When you have achieved the desired results the bleaching should be stopped so you donít end up with a spot lighter than the rest of your skin tone. Be sure not to apply the product to your normal skin tone either, this will cause that normal area to lighten.

If you do not have a defined area to bleach, like a widespread of freckles be sure to choose a product that is meant for widespread use.

Skin bleaching is not a very fast process. Depending on how dark the area you are treating is, it can take up to one year or even longer to achieve your desired results.

When using a bleaching agent it is crucial that you use some form of sun protection. It is recommended that you use and SPF of 30 to protect your skin from the sun. Without using protection the sun will darken the areas you are wishing to treat. Sun protection can be used applied over your choice of bleaching treatment.
